Great Wedding Great Location

For those of you who may read this for more than just the trips, I had a wedding this past weekend on the Colorado River just west of Bastrop and next to the McKinney Roughs, which if you are starting to triangulate, or be completely confused, is east of Austin. The location -Lost Pines Hyatt - is spectacular. They have a wonderfully designed structure with more of a Texas Spread than a tall building jutting out of the countryside, and it is right on the Colorado River. It was refreshing to find such an upscale locale in, what is now, the middle of nowhere.

Rumors are there is a method to the madness of putting a resort in the middle of nowhere, and they swirl around Mickey Mouse and the whole Disney gang wanting to have a southern home in this part of Texas. If one observed how "Family Friendly" this Hyatt is, it would be difficult to quash the rumors.

From Austin: Brides who may be shopping for locations, probably already realize the beautiful venue Austin 71 has changed hands and apparently will cease offering itself as a wedding venue. Sad, sad sad. I have done several weddings there, and it is a spectacular venue. I believe their turnover date is this September. So, I will be looking to visit more venues in the Austin area in coming months.

Tune in tomorrow for a photo of the photographer taken this past weekend with a downright famous athlete who was in attendance at this past weekend's wedding.

You have Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie to thank for that (at least part of it anyways). They built that hotel to accomodate all the upscale people stopping in bastrop to film that movie (i don't remember the name) That's where the Jolie-Pitt family stayed during the entire filming process.
