Wrap up North Texas State Fair & Rodeo

Spent part of another evening at the NTS Fair and Rodeo trying to add some more depth to images of young rodeo participants. It ended with the finals - high fives and tears all around for those who did not do as well. It was amazing to see parents who seemed to be there for their kids and no glory of their own. All American fun. I wonder if anyone is interested in this theme? It looks book worthy to me. I will do the first edit today and see what fits here.What next??

North Texas State Fair Photography



One never knows what they may find at something as simple as the North Texas State Fair and Rodeo, an annual event held here at the Fair Grounds in Denton, Texas. I was feeling the need to reach the edge in my day-to-day, so I headed out to the fair just before dark, and stumbled across the youth rodeo. The image above is just one of many from a few hours at the fair. My lucky day.

John Elway Photograph

This one sure brought back memories! Elway looks so young. Heck he was young and so was I. I am glad to finally be archiving the boxes of negatives that have been waiting patiently in a cool, dry dark place. Ahh, day games at the Murph.

You can find the most interesting things on craigslist.com if you know where to look. Have a look at services for, say, creative or event services and you never know what you will find. I am trying to put together a trip and connect the dots with shoots booked through craigslist. Could be interesting.

UNT Sports Bid Brings Back Memories

It was good to trudge out the old sports images this week and give them a good scan and printing to present along with bid for University of Nort Texas' (UNT) sports photography contract for 2006-2007. It seems pretty easy to see that sports is something I have an affinity for, but the income has never been there for me, and only seems to provide a living for a select few.

Ben Smith CD - Sundown (the ep)

Ben Smith dropped off a few of his new CD-EP's tonight - titled "Sundown" (the ep). I will get a scan of the cover on tomorrow since the use of dark and light and text worked out very well.

Efforts to make the Folks Festival in Lyons, Colorado, hit the wall when I didn't hear back from the organizer.I guess Jeff can go on (solo) without me. I will start on next year this year and maybe this time make that happen.

Corporate Shoot Begins With a Burst

We began the first phase of shooting for Mosaic yesterday with the creation of somewhere in the neighborhood of 800 images being made at the Mosaic Headquarters in Irving and on location at Office Depot at MacArthur and I635. The challenges were great and called upon all gear and knowledge - for 8 - almost straight - hours.

Lunch with Marketing Director Dario Passadore was quite a treat with a quick analysis of my marketing by Dario. That was a real eye-opener! Needless to say, with the new redesign coming for sdphotography.com, Dario shed some unbiased light on my specific needs, shortcomings and strong points.
